Unwind in the Wilds with Derwent

Is there anywhere more wonderful than the rolling hills of the Lake District? Inspired by the natural beauty of Cumbria, Derwent has launched its first colouring-in book, Unwind in the Wilds, in conjunction with artist Sarah Taylor.

Derwent Unwind in the Wilds

Colouring is a trend that’s sweeping through the nation, and this book is certainly out to capture the imaginations of all with a selection of whimsical images. However, when working with a beautiful backdrop, it’s vital to use high-quality tools. The deluxe edition of Unwind in the Wilds comes with a pack of Coloursoft pencils so you can get started straight away. They can be used to layer-up and blend whilst adding a dimensional quality that works perfectly with the 150gsm pages. Designs can be displayed around the home, turned into cards or sent blank to inspire loved ones to take up their own colouring adventure.

Here’s what Sarah Taylor has to say…

1 How long have you been illustrating for?

I’ve been drawing and illustrating since I was a kid. It’s been a lifelong process, learning and improving. Art is all about experimentation, before you find a style that suits you.

2 Why do you love using Derwent Coloursoft pencils?

Coloursoft pencils are perfect for colouring in; they work brilliantly in this book. The shades are strong and vibrant, and you can mix and blend colours together by layering.

3 Why do you think this book is ideal for Christmas?

It can be a stressful time, so this book is ideal to use when you need a break. Christmas is also a great time to try something new, so hopefully it will inspire others to get creative.

4 What's your guilty pleasure when working?

I love listening to jazz music whilst I paint. It is really unpredictable and I like that – it can inspire a different flick of a brush or a different stroke of a pen.
