instructions
  1. 1. Sketch out a tree shape onto scrap paper, divide into three with wavy lines, and cut out the template pieces. Trace around the shapes onto the reverse of patterned paper, adding an extra centimetre to the top edge of the bottom two sections to make tabs.

    2. Glue the pieces together, using the tabs. Sew along the joins and the bottom edge with running stitch using three strands of embroidery thread. Make a second, mirror image tree in the same way and sew the two shapes together along the side edges.

    3. Wrap a wooden cotton reel with a strip of patterned paper and fix a pencil into the hole. Place the paper tree over the pencil to display.
