Preparing the sheets of wash colour - 1 Place a sheet of water colour paper onto an easel and dampen the surface slightly with a spray bottle of water. Put red, green, light and dark blue paint onto separate wells in your mixing palette and dilute well with water.
2 Load a large brush with one shade and stroke this across the top of your sheet in one steady movement. Add water to the brush and paint the lines below the first to help the colour spread down.
3 Choose a second colour and brush this into the still wet bottom line of the first shade so they blend. Fade this down the sheet as before and repeat until the whole surface is covered. Leave to dy flat.
Making the scrapbook
1 Cut two squares of card and round the corners. Cover both pieces with dried wash paper, trimmed neatly to size, and punch three holes at the left side.
2 Fix three colours of raffia to the right using double-sided tape. Arrange for the join to be on top so the ends can be threaded through the holes of a chipboard button. Glue a round button on top.
3 Cut a small rectangle of wash paper in a different colour and round the corners. Glue to the cover and decorate with buttons, gems, stickers and fabric flowers.
4 Trim several pages and stick wash paper to them. Add photos and embellishments of your choice. Arrange, then punch holes in the left-hand edges and bind together inside the book with raffia. Tip: To create the book binding, position a pencil at the spine and knot the raffia tightly around this. When the pencil is removed the covers will open easily!
