Gold pendant - 1. Roll out rectangles of white and black FIMO, 2mm thick and place one on top of the other. Cut into four equal pieces and restack. Roll over the top of the stack in both directions to reduce the thickness of the layers and trim the sides to make a neat rectangle.
2. Cut through the stack with a thin, flat blade to make six equal slices and lay three of them top to tail on a flat surface to look like a zebra crossing. Keep the other three slices to one side. Roll out a thin sheet of pink and a thin sheet of pale pink FIMO and cover the top of the striped clay, trimming to the edges. Flip the block over and cover the other side in the same way.
3. Use the blade to cut a thin slice from the long edge of the striped block and lay this in a flowing curve down the length of a 2mm thick rectangle of golf effect FIMO. Add another stripy slice in the same way towards the base of the rectangle.
4. Create a circular millefiori cane using a rolled up skinner blended sheet of graduating white to pink as the central core. Wrap this cane with a striped black and white sheet of FIMO made in the same way as before and add a final wrap of bright red clay. Roll backwards and forwards on a flat surface to reduce the diameter of the cane and cut thin slices from it.
5. Place several large slices over the striped lines on the pendant. Take part of the millefiori cane and reduce down further to enable you to cut smaller motifs that can be laid between the large ones. Roll gently to even out the surface of the patterned sheet and trim to a rounded rectangle. Smooth the edges and wrap the top end of the pendant over a cocktail stick to make a loop for hanging. Bake for 30 minutes at 110C and allow to cool before varnishing. -
Circular pendant - 1. Create a black and white striped block of clay in the same way as before but do not cover with a layer of pink clay. Roll the block out to a thickness of 3mm and use a circular cutter to create the base pendant.
2. Add zebra striped lines along with circular and square millefiori slices from the previous projects onto the surface and roll gently with a knitting needle to flatten into the pendant. Take a spare piece of striped clay and wrap over a cocktail stick before fixing to the back of the pendant to create a hanging loop. Smooth the edges of the pendant with your fingers before baking and varnishing.
