Iris folding may look complicated but it’s simply a technique where the ends of narrow strips of paper are layered on top of each other in a certain order, working inwards inside a shaped aperture. This creates a pattern on the right side, with the centre forming an iris similar to that of an eye or a camera lens. As the new school year is upon us, how about your little one giving their favourite new teacher an adorable apple card? I’ve used a lightweight card for the apple itself to make it easy to cut out but strong enough to withstand the weight of multiple paper strips, and a smooth, easy-to-fold origami paper for the iris strips.
