instructions
  1. greeting card - 1 Trim a piece of the scrapbook paper, 14cm square, and pick out some of the detail by stitching over the scallop-edged pattern – alternatively, create faux stitches with a fineliner pen. Cut out two turquoise hearts and one pink, then arrange and adhere, as shown. Stitch each in contrasting thread.

2 Cover card, 14cm square, with stitched paper, taking care to stick the edges down securely. Cut a strip of teal paper, 1cm wide, and stick along the bottom of the card, just above the edge. Add a length of paper lace, then attach pink velvet ribbon and a small piece of button print paper above.

3 Trim a strip of teal paper, 3cm wide, and stick it along the top of the card, just down from the edge. Fix decorative lace paper across the middle of the teal strip, then adhere button paper, 1cm, and a very thin length of teal paper. Cut out three roses from the paper and mount using 3-D foam pads, as shown.

4 Write 'Mums are like buttons they hold things together’ across your card, above the sewing detail. Secure three bridal paper flowers, as shown, and adhere the stems using decorative sticky tape. Add five pearly buttons, then highlight the roses, flowers and lace with glitter-glue to finish.

  2. heart - 1 Cut one heart from pink fabric then another and some mini hearts from turquoise. Arrange as shown, then adhere securely onto the pink heart and allow to dry. Stitch each mini heart with contrasting thread, then hand-sew a single small button onto the centre of each with pink thread. Trim cream ribbon, 25cm.

2 Lay the large turquoise heart right side up, then fold the ribbon in half and pin – the loop needs to be near the bottom of the heart and the ends overhanging the middle of the top. Lay the pink heart wrong side up and pin in place. Machine stitch round the heart, 0.5cm in from the edge, from point A to point B. Clip the seams on the curves, then turn rightside out and fill with toy stuffing.

3 Close the opening by hand-stitching. Adhere a crepe rose to the top, adding a diamante button. Tie a turquoise velvet ribbon into a V shape, then attach behind the rose. Tuck a decorative tag under the edge of the rose and write 'mum’ or a special message. Finally, stitch a pearl drop button to the bottom.

  3. mini card tag - 1 Trim a mini card to measure 7.5cm square when folded, then cover the front with the scrapbook paper. Adhere decorative paper lace along the bottom. Write 'Mums are like buttons they hold things together’ in two lines across the card, as shown.

2 Cut out three pink mini hearts and three turquoise. Adhere, then create faux stitches around each using a fine liner pen. Stick a small pearl button onto the middle of five of the hearts. Attach a rose onto the middle heart with 3-D foam pad, as shown.

3 Wrap three tiny flowers together using a very small piece of masking tape and place at the bottom, as shown. Cover and adhere with sticky decorative tape. To finish, add small amounts of glitterglue to the rose head and flowers.
