Beaded Cupcake - 1. Draw a two-piece template: the icing with candle and the cupcake base. Transfer the icing onto baby pink felt and cut out. Blanket stitch around the edges in a contrasting embroidery thread.
2. Sew a selection of bugle beads and sequins on top, as shown. From behind, tack one row of pearl insertion trim to the bottom of the icing, so that only the decorative edge is visible from the front. Stitch a sparkly sequin trim above, securing the ends behind. Add a loop of iridescent cord.
3. Make a central slit in the top of the icing, 11mm wide. Slip the velvet ribbon through, with the base hidden behind the felt. Diagonally sew silver bugle beads for the stripes, finishing with a medium-sized tear-shaped stone for the flame.
4. Transfer the cup template onto brown felt and a thin piece of wadding, then cut out. Stack the layers together and blanket stitch along the outside edge with light brown thread. Using running stitch, sew four strips of satin vertically along the case for a corrugated effect. Add a sparkly button to the top right, to join with the icing loop.
5. Join the templates together and transfer them onto sturdy patterned card. On the left-hand side of the cupcake, butt up the cup template and trace again, so that you have two side by side.
6. Score down the centre of the two cases to create the spine of the card, then fold. Attach the felt icing to the top of the greeting using double-sided tape. Secure the felt cup over the matching motif on the front in the same way.
