instructions
  1. Hanging Decorations - 1 Download the template and transfer the outline of the petal onto balser wood. Carefully saw around the shape and sand the edges smooth.

2 Make a small vertical hole at the top of the shape using a fine drill bit, then change to a slightly larger drill bit to increase the size of the hole. Give the wooden shape two coats of red paint and put to one side to dry.

3 Trace the petal motif onto white card and carefully cut the shape out with a scalpel. Place onto newspaper and cover the back with a mist of spray adhesive, then position on the front of the wooden shape.

4 Cut white ribbon, 23cm, fold in half and thread on a white bead, then tie the end into a knot. Put a dot of glue into the drilled hole and push in the knotted end, then leave for a couple of hours to dry.

5 Make a variety of different decorations using red and white card and the templates included.

  2. Tree Dec - 1 Download the template, then transfer the outline of the tree onto the balser wood. Using a coping saw, carefully saw around the shape, keeping to the pencil line. Sand the edges smooth using sandpaper.

2 Cut out a rectangle from the balser wood, 8cm x 18.5cm. Mark and accurately cut out a slit in the centre, 4mm x 9.5cm. Sand the edges and try the tree in the slot to make sure it fits snuggly.

3 Give the tree and stand two coats of red paint. Trace the tree motif onto white card, and carefully cut the shape out with a scalpel. Use a punch to cut out decorative holes along the branches of the tree.

4 Place the motif onto newspaper and cover the back with spray adhesive, then position on the front of the painted tree. Punch out white circles and glue into place. Glue into the stand and leave overnight to set.
