Add a touch of glitz to your card making with stained-glass effects and a dusting of cosmic shimmer

What you need...

• Stamp: Stained Glass Butterfly (UN36)
  Card: white, pink, teal
  Cosmic Shimmer Watercolours: rose hue, frosted mallow, yellow sun, autumn twist, Persian sea, orange gold, pearlescent
  Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Sparkle Glitter
  Cosmic Shimmer Dries-Clear glue
  Embossing powder, black, white
  Ink-pad, perfect medium pad, clear
  Tape, double-sided

instructions

1. Butterfly Cards - 1. Ink the stained glass butterfly stamp with the clear, perfect medium pad and print onto white card. Sprinkle with black embossing powder, dust off any excess and melt using the heat tool. Put to one side to dry. Cover with black embossing powder and heat with the tool as before.
   
   2. Using a small paintbrush and the Cosmic Shimmer watercolours, fill in all the sections of the design as shown. We have used rose hue, frosted mallow, yellow sun and autumn twist for the butterfly's wings and body. Apply orange and emerald gold to the flower shape and Persian sea to the outer edge of the background. Highlight all the areas using pearlescent paint and a second coat of the original colour to blend shadow into the image for depth.
   
   3. Using Cosmic Shimmer glue, cover the inner background area behind the butterfly, then sprinkle with aurora sparkle glitter and tap off the excess. Allow to dry. Stamp and emboss just the upper wing area of the butterfly and cut out. Paint with Cosmic Shimmer watercolours in rose hue, frosted mallow and yellow sun. Apply a small amount of glue to the area of the wing nearest the body and attach to the original butterfly. Add some 3-D foam pieces to the underside of the wing to lift it up.
   
   4. Cut out the rectangle around the entire stained glass window and mount onto pink card (matching the colour on the wing). Leave 2.5cm on either side and use your favourite border punch to add a pattern to the edge on both sides of the card. Add a rose hue colour wash to each side.
   
   5. Mount the decorated panel onto white card and trim the corners with a punch. Lastly, fix the whole arrangement onto a teal card blank. Stamp your favourite sentiment inside, sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat. Add clear crystal lacquer accents to the round dots on the butterfly’s wings and allow to dry thoroughly before posting.
