Turn ribbons strips into bright and funky festive cards

These striking aperture cards are really simple to make, yet they look so sophisticated. Based on classic Christmas silhouettes, Jenny Arnott’s eye-catching designs are created by layering up short lengths of ribbon and ricrac behind cut-out windows. This project is great way of using up small snippets of ribbon that you have in your stash and the cards sure to be well received this Christmas.

Try this

Alter the direction of some of the ribbons; try layering them diagonally and on top of one another

Top tip

Use a mixture of different colours, textures and widths of ribbon, including a few metallic ones for a bit of sparkle!
