Use simple brush strokes to transform plain items into festive gift ideas

Adding lots of bright cheery colours gives this rockin’ robin project a festive feel. The main illustration has been designed in one shade and the brighter tones have been added afterwards. If you have never tried ceramic painting before, working over a template is a good way to start. Once you have got the hang of it, make the design your own by adding a flourish here and there or change the arrangement to suit, such as the position of the motif or by including your own message. Finally, take time to embellish the design, it will lift the whole layout and give it a more finished look. You can do this using outliners or even little gems to add sparkling highlights. If the finished mugs are gifts, make a tag and attach it to the handles; this is a really nice way of creating a complementary set.
