instructions
  1. Colourful Koi - 1. Roll out half a block of gold FIMO, 3mm thick, onto a clean tile. Use a sharp knife to cut the body and tail shape of the fish, then partly bake for 10 minutes at 110°C to hold the shape.

    2. Roll out the remaining gold FIMO and cut two fins, attaching them to the cooled body by smoothing in place with fingertips. Cut feather shapes from gold and place them over the tail to give a 3-D effect.

    3. Roll out green FIMO and cut more feather shapes to add to the tail and fins, then add detail by pressing a needle across each piece to make lines.

    4. Roll out rectangles of black and red FIMO and place one on top of the other. Roll the two pieces up like a swiss roll and keep rolling to reduce the diameter of the resulting cane. Cut the cane into slices, 1mm thick, with a thin straight blade to make spiral discs.

    5. Layer the discs onto the body of the fish to make a scale pattern. Add two large eyes, nostrils and whiskers from gold FIMO and attach to the head. Spot the tail with a few tiny green dots of FIMO and bake completely. Varnish when cooled and glue a magnet to the back if necessary.
